Founder's Story
The great thing about Hot Yoga is that everyone’s journey is unique. Whether you’re young or old, super fit, or in recovery, there’s a place for you on the mat.
My Hot Yoga story started due to issues with my back after spending years working outside on roofs and up ladders. I was lucky enough to discover hot yoga and haven’t looked back since.
The practice of Hot Yoga really has changed my life, however finding the right equipment has been a bit of a challenge, particularly finding a mat that was truly fit for purpose. I tried lots of different mat and towel combinations but nothing gave me the right support, or performed as promised.
It was pretty clear that there were many Hot Yoga practitioners in the same position - we were all frustrated by not having a mat that worked well, and so I decided to create one.
With the help of Bikram Yoga North Brisbane and Bikram Yoga Gabba, we have developed the best Hot Yoga mat with constant testing and modifying of the mat through feedback from the use in class by a variety of teachers.
Meet Steve
After lots of research, testing out various designs, fabrics and specialised features, our first product, the HYS Balance Mat was born.
Our original prototypes were tested and refined by some of the globe’s leading Hot Yoga and Bikram instructors and studio owners, ensuring the mat we sell today, is an evolution of all of the mats that have come before and used across the globe.
We’re thrilled to have launched Australia’s first Hot Yoga Mat designed especially to meet the unique needs of Hot Yoga. With the versatility of this mat it is also able to be used for pilates and if you need a bit of extra bounce you can fit the mat over a rubber mat using the pockets to locate them both together.
